“We’ll Lease You a New Copier for What You’re Currently Paying and it’ll Go Faster…”

Another Dishonest Ploy from Copier Reps

Another Dishonest Ploy from Copier Reps

You may be nearing the end of your copier lease and you are hearing your copier rep sing a song of “bigger, better, at the same price.”  It sounds great at first, after all, why not go faster and be able to do more and if you can do it at the same costs as you currently have, all the better.  Here is the problem, you are probably paying too much for your copier in Denver!

Let’s change the product to illustrate the point.  You go to your local Starwhatever coffee house and let’s say they are charging you $8.00 per cup of coffee.  (It seems like they do sometimes) Anyway, this is way too much, and them promising to give you 32 oz instead of 20 oz does not make the $8.00 cost a good deal.  A good deal is based on fair market value and what you get for that value.

When you are buying a copier in Denver, don’t get suckered into thinking that just because the copier is faster than what you already have for the same price, that the new copier is a good deal.

Economy Got You Down? Maybe a Copier Rental in Denver Makes Sense?

Copier Rentals in Denver

Copier Rentals in Denver

Now you know you are going to need a new copier in Denver, but you are not really wanting to commit to a $10,000 to $12,000 copier right now.  You could also look at cheap copiers in Denver, but do you really want to deal with the bad quality?  Ultimately, you may want to consider a copier rental in Denver!  Why?  Because you aren’t stuck in a long term copier contract, but you also don’t have to deal with a bad copier.

Copier rentals are perfect for locations where you may be thinking about opening a new office, but aren’t sure if it will be successful or not.  Maybe you find that you are going to go ahead and have a large 6 month project.  These are circumstances where copier rentals in Denver make sense.  Who knows, maybe you are just going to be doing a show or a convention…  These are all good times to get quotes on a copier rental.

When is a bad time?  When you know you are going to be using the copier in Denver long term.  This is when a copier rental in Denver is rather silly.

Let's Be Thankful Before Buying Copiers in Denver

Let's Be Thankful Before Buying Copiers in Denver

Yes, we are a copier company in Denver, but this is really the time of year where buying a copier in Denver is secondary to being grateful for what we have and showing thanks to those we love.  Let’s be real, in 20 years, who will care if a copier was 20 pages a minute or 75 pages a minute?  These things, though important to help a business be efficient with copying needs, is not what we look back on at the end of our days.

Who looks back and says, “man, I wish I would have bought that Konica Minota copier rather than that Sharp copier when I owned that company in Denver!”

These pieces of technology are fleeting, they fail, they die.  Really, they are not that much different than we are.  We all have the same end as these pieces of equipment at the end of the day.  This is why it is important to take inventory of what we have and give thanks!  You may have differing religious views, different philosophical views, but really, I would assume we all can find something we can be grateful for this holiday season.

Of course we will help you buy a copier.  Sometimes a copier purchase in Denver is not the most important thing in the world.  I am just hoping I can remind you of this simple fact!

Are You Blissfully Ignorant on Your Copier Purchase in Denver?

What Copier Customers in Denver Don't Want to Know...

What Copier Customers in Denver Don't Want to Know...

Sometimes it is nice not to know what’s happening.  People will go years without a physical when they feel bad because they don’t want bad news.  It is human nature.  We all all like to pretend we want to know hard facts, but we really don’t.

Copier purchases are no different.  You have been working with the same copier company in Denver for years and who wants to think they have been getting ripped off.  If you have been getting ripped off, do you really want to know how bad it has been?  This can be devastating.  We realize our beloved rep, has been soaking us for years, it feels bad.

We are not saying that your copier company in Denver is actually ripping you off.  We are saying that if they are, you likely haven’t bothered to discover this harsh fact.  So, if you want to break this viscious cycle on your copier purchases in Denver, you will need to look at some key things.  Here are some typical signs of being oversold.

  1. You only print Letter/Legal, but have a copier that takes Tabloid (11 X 17)
  2. You only print mono but you have a color copier
  3. You pay for prints you don’t actually use
  4. You spend a lot of money, but do very few prints and copies.

Your Copier in Denver Needs to Work, not be Sexy…

Having a Big Copier is Sexy, but is it Necessary?

Having a Big Copier is Sexy, but is it Necessary?

It is time to look into another copier and you are getting ready to call your rep who sold you your last copier…  after all, they did bring you doughnuts every Friday for a few months!  Before you call your rep back and get into the latest, greatest, sexiest copier out there…  here are a few things that might surprise you.

  1. 97% of all copies are letter/legal and not Tabloid, according to industry sources like Gartner. So, do you actually need a tabloid capable copier?
  2. Small copiers generally have faster warm up times and are very fast these days.  Some customers are concerned that if they buy a smaller copier, there will be a workflow bottleneck.  It is generally more likely to have the bottleneck with the big copier because warm up times are so much longer
  3. Some smaller copiers, such as the Lexmark X654de can run copies at a rapid 55 pages a minute, so speed is in the “small copiers” now too.
  4. Color generally costs 8 to 10 times what Black and White does, do you actually need color?  If you do, are all the drivers set to default to black and white?
  5. Stapling and hole punching costs about an extra $1,500 in most cases

If you want some no nonsense help and and a copier quote from someone here in the Denver metro area, give me a call and we can schedule an appointment.

Dirty Little Secret #3 — How to Lose a Bundle on Returning Leased Equipment

October 20th, 2008

One of the most aggravating things for most copier customers is dealing with the leasing companies.  These companies do not make money via service and products like we do, they make it via interest and charges.  It is important to realize this and to prepare yourself so that you don’t end up paying a ton of money because you weren’t completely aware of the leasing nusiances.  I have included a .pdf here for our customers in Denver which should help you save hundreds to thousands of dollars.  We can help you make sure the lease you are signing for a new copier makes sense and meets your objectives.

Leasing Pitfalls

HP Laserjet CM6030/ CM6040 — Product Review

October 20th, 2008

With speeds as fast as 40 pages per minute the HP Laserjet CM6030 / CM6040 is a copier series worth keeping an eye on.  At this time, it appears that the cost per print is a tad high on this device, but the image quality and reliability seem to be good.  Of course for the HP only office, this device will add both tabloid capability and color capability to an already robust line of products by HP.

When the market leader begins to introduce products into new markets, there are 2 concerns.  1) The reliability of the product itself.  I would not be concerned with HP on this point because the HP Laserjet 5500, HP Laserjet 5550 and HP Laserjet 9500 have all been rock solid in terms of printing for color tabloid capable printers…  all HP is doing is adding a scanner to an already sucessful printer line.  Pretty straight forward when you have HP’s engineering budget. 2) The other concern is for the competitors.  Anytime HP, Apple, or Microsoft do something in the computing world, it is automatically relevant.  So, it will be interesting to see how product sales in this class go for HP.

Product rating — 4.5 stars out of 5 for performance

3 stars out of five for pricing.
