Firmware Needing to be Reset

We have been running into a lot of scanning issues with Windows 7 and Windows 8 from clients who were scanning well for years.  One of the things we have noticed with Xerox copiers, is there are a few things that seem to need to be done that is not expected (like reloading the firmware on the copier.)

Firmware is read only memory – It can tell the copier how to behave or how control panels should display, etc.  In some cases, when using Windows 7 or 8, the firmware is in need of upgrading because a new software piece in the computer conflicts or causes problems with the software in the copier.   The process to update the firmware is about 30 minutes or so.

We have seen this with the 7225 as well as the 3635MFP the most so far.

Another common issue that messes up scanning is having Windows Live Essentials installed.  Remove that program too if you do not use it.

Scanning is always a pain to set up, here are a few things to look at if you are struggling.
